Playter Estate

The area known as Playter Estate is popular for two reasons...lovely, large detactched and semi detached houses, and the school district of Jackman Avenue.

Tree lined streets, within walking distance to the Danforth and easy access to everything! Shopping...the Carrot Common, TTC etc.  Most of the  house were built in the early 20th century and most have been lovingly restored.

For many families looking to buy a new home a big consideration is the schools that are located in the neighbourhood - not just the number of schools but also the type and quality that are within walking distance or a short drive from the home.

East York and the Playeter Estate is an older neighbourhood that is served by a number of schools, many of which have been attended by several generations of families living in the East York area.  One of the most popular is Jackman Avenue Public School.

Opened in 1963, Jackman Avenue caters to up to 700 students from junior kindergarten up to grade six.  Providing both English and French immersion programs, the school also houses the Jackman Community Day Care which offers nursery school programs for three year olds.

Jackman Avenue Public School has long been a community hub with families of current and past students coming together to raise funds and volunteer for various school and community programs.  The building is used in the evenings and weekends for numerous local community and outreach programs.

Located on tree-lined Jackman Avenue the school is in the middle of the neighbourhood with most students living within walking distance.  Jackman Avenue Public sits between the Broadview and Pape subway stations making it easy to access via public transit.
