Toronto, and the entire GTA, is really made up of a variety of different residential pockets, and various architectual styles. As the City of Toronto grew, (particularily ) in the 1950's, areas such as the Annex. Cabbagetown, Riverdale and Yorkville all fell into decline as people headed to the newly developed 'suburbs' of North York.
Now of course, those Toronto urban neighbourhoods are in great demand. Some of these ranch bungalow's, front-split and side-split houses that once represented suburban life are now being transformed into classic contemporary houses. They are a designers dream. In addition, for the past decade or so Builders and Developers have been tearing down these Bungalows and re-building much larger homes on these sites that are better suited to modern family life.
Toronto neighbourhoods are constantly being transformed...For example, The Junction. once home to Toronto's hard working 'working class' is slowly transforming into one of Toronto's Hippest Neighbourhoods. Some of the best Toronto Design Stores have opened up...and the Junction is a very happening place.
